Isaac Otim Omara holds a Bachelor of Nursing Science from Mbarara University of Science and Technology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management from the Uganda Management Institute, and a Professional Diploma in Clinical Trials Management from the James Lind Institute, where he is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health. He serves as the Field Coordinator for the ADUNU (Accelerating Delivery of Rheumatic Heart Disease Preventive Care in Uganda) Project at the Uganda Heart Institute (UHI). In this role, he coordinates field operations for decentralizing RHD screening and preventive care, having previously served as a Clinical Research Coordinator for the GOAL Trial in Gulu and a Study Nurse Coordinator in Lira.
As a fellow under the Impact Masters Research Fellowship, Omara will undertake a study titled, “Examining Provider Satisfaction Across Three Approaches (School, Facility, Community-Based) for RHD Screening in Kitgum District.”
Through this research, he intends to assess health care worker satisfaction, acceptability, and screening outcomes across school-based, facility-based, and community outreach strategies for detecting rheumatic heart disease in Kitgum District. His study aims to identify the most effective and scalable screening models for frontline health workers, helping inform policy and strengthen early RHD case-finding in low-resource settings.
In his free time, Omara is actively involved in church leadership, providing spiritual counseling, mentorship, and emotional support to colleagues and community members. He also enjoys teaching and community outreach.
