Dr. Mugwano holds a Master of Medicine from Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi; Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery of Gulu University and Fellowship in Diabetes from the Royal Liverpool Academy. He works as an adult cardiologist at Uganda Heart Institute where he performs elective and emergency procedures guided by the faculty on duty; participates in cardiology outpatient clinics; performs diagnostic and follow up echocardiography; compiles Morbidity and Mortality reports and teaches residents and undergraduates, among other duties.
His research interests are centered on Non communicable diseases (NCDs) and he has previously conducted research on poor drug adherence and lack of awareness of hypertension among hypertensive stroke patients in Kampala and factors associated with severity and anatomical distribution of diabetic foot ulcer in Uganda: a multicenter cross-sectional study.
As a master’s fellow on the Impact Program, Dr. Mugwano will evaluate Outcomes of Rheumatic Heart Disease patients undergoing balloon mitral valvuloplasty (BMV) at the Uganda Heart Institute.
In his free time, he love cycling, reading novels, watching documentaries and football.
