Dr Twinamasiko holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery of Makerere University and currently pursuing a MSc in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Makerere University. He works as a medical officer at MRC/UVRI & LSHTM Uganda Research Unit where he coordinates the priME study, a TB vaccine clinical trial. He is as well a member of the NCD research group at Makerere University Lung Institute where he is involved in advancing NCD research work at the institute.
His overarching goal is to improve the healthcare of Uganda through making a significant contribution to research and innovation. He has strong interest in the intersection of infectious diseases and non-communicable diseases, and the use of Data science to develop prediction algorithms. He is currently a principal investigator for a study aimed at developing a Machine learning algorithm that predicts in-hospital mortality of patients admitted with sepsis in a low-resource setting facility.
As an IMPACT Program Masters Research Fellow, Dr Twinamasiko will assess Health-related quality of life and associated factors among adult patients with Rheumatic heart disease receiving treatment at Uganda Heart Institute.
