Dr. Joselyn Rwebembera

Dr. Rugogamu Jesse is a medical doctor and researcher with a robust academic foundation from Makerere University, College of Health Sciences. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences (Physiology). He is currently advancing his expertise as a candidate for a Master of Science in Immunology and Clinical Microbiology at the Department of Immunology and Molecular Biology, Makerere University. Additionally, Jesse has specialized training in Quality Management Auditing.

Professional Roles & Responsibilities

While currently a dedicated postgraduate student, Jesse maintains a dynamic professional life:

• Technical Advisor (UNBS): He leverages his clinical and auditing training to participate in Health Systems Audits with the Uganda National Bureau of Standards, ensuring quality and safety compliance within the health sector.
• CEO of Sharks Photography Limited: Demonstrating his creative leadership, he oversees the creation of high-quality imagery and visual art, blending technical precision with artistic vision.

Research Interests & Science Communication

Jesse’s interests span a wide range of biomedical disciplines. He is particularly passionate about the rapid evolution of modern research and seeks to bridge the gap between complex laboratory findings and public understanding. With his diverse background, he aims to establish himself as a Science Communicator, translating intricate data into impactful narratives.

The Impact Program Research

Under the Impact Program, Jesse will be conducting a critical study on the genetic characterization of S. pyogenes in Uganda.

• The Project: His work involves comparing local genetic sequences against global gene banks to tell the unique “genetic story” of S. pyogenes within the Ugandan context.
• Expectations: Jesse hopes to identify consistent genetic regions and potential vaccine targets, contributing vital data to the fight against streptococcal infections.

Personal Interests

Outside the laboratory and the clinic, Jesse is a man of diverse passions. He is an avid photographer with a keen eye for detail, a fan of the adrenaline-fueled world of motocross, and a deep appreciator of fine art.
